At 11:47 p.m., Graham saw an unfamiliar woman on the security cameras climbing up from the wooded ravine behind his mansion in Beverly Hills. She wore an old sweater, her gray hair was tangled, and a grocery tote hung from her shoulder.
His finger hovered over the panic button.
One press, and twelve armed guards would flood the garden before that woman could take another breath.
But Graham did not press it.

“Eat fast,” she said without looking at them.

Then Graham heard the sound that split his chest open.

Graham stared at the frozen screen, where Sophie held a spoon with both hands.

They started with Beatrice’s office.

Then they found duplicate invoices, buyer lists, printed messages, and a notebook filled with the names of restaurants, private chefs, and suppliers who paid for “leftover” products.
But the worst was in the cold storage room.
When Cole opened the door, the smell came first.

Graham stepped under the white light and saw what his money had bought.
